About Topclass Driving School

We pride ourselves on our quality of service and professional driving tuition. All Topclass driving school instructors are required to sign up to the DVSA Code of Practice, so you can be rest assured you’re in good hands We have both male and female driving instructors in most of the areas we service and all are DVSA approved, and fully DBS (formally CRB) checked.

Our instructors can offer a choice of daytime, evening or weekend driving lessons depending on your availability and their free diary slots and will do their utmost to be flexible and work to your schedule. Unlike some other local driving instructors we don’t charge any extra for weekend or evening driving lessons and our try us and see deal can be taken 7 days a week and at anytime of the day. Most of our instructors teach from around 8-9am through to 6-7pm most days of the week with some working much later into the evening. For your convenience they will drop off or pick up from home, work or college, allowing you to take your driving lessons around your individual commitments.

We focus on teaching in the local areas giving us first rate local knowledge of all the best starting points; these are called nursery routes ideal for the complete beginner. Your driving instructor will know all the busier roads to avoid until you’re ready to tackle more challenging routes.

Nursery routes will be used to teach you the basic skills needed including Moving off and stopping, meeting and dealing with parked and oncoming vehicles, adequate clearance and safe road positioning, approaching and emerging at junctions. You may also tackle some of the required manoeuvres.

Once your confidence has increased we will move you on to the busier roads known as intermediate routes. These will generally include dealing with Roundabouts, Pedestrian crossings, crossroads and anticipation of other road users. This is where you will also start to practice Independent Driving consisting of following instructions from a Sat Nav and following road signs.

Finally you will tackle advanced routes involving more complex roads and junctions including major roundabouts and Dual carriageways.

As you approach driving test standard you will be offered a Mock Driving Test. This will be conducted by your own driving instructor. Your instructor will aim to cover a similar route a driving examiner would use on your real DVSA driving test and you will be assessed using the same marking sheet they use. This will help to give you an idea of what to expect and give you a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses when under pressure.

Our driving instructors offer full 1 or 2 hour driving lessons, or if you want to pass quicker you can learn to drive in 1 to 6 weeks with one of our Intensive driving courses. Our services range from teaching learner drivers right through to Pass Plus refresher and Motorway Lessons for full licence holders.
